PRACTICAL INFORMATION
APHC BATHROOM
Due to accessibility challenges in standard hotel bathrooms, APHC will provide one dedicated wheelchair-accessible (bath)room for players and referees who require additional space or support. APHC will book one accessible room on the ground floor (located immediately at the entrance of the corridor) and make this room available exclusively for use as an APHC bathroom.
This facility is intended for those who cannot safely or comfortably use the bathroom in their own room, for example when using a hoist and/or a shower/toilet chair. Clear APHC signage with the applicable arrangements will be displayed on the door. Access will be strictly managed via the hotel reception to ensure proper use and availability for those who need it.
Van Der Valk will provide extra materials such as towels and a mop. We do ask users to leave the room clean and tidy after use. During the 2025 edition, we noticed that card usage needs to be more strictly managed, to ensure better oversight of who is using the room, especially since only two room keys can be issued.
From 2026 onward, the following system will be implemented: There will be one single card/room key, which will remain at reception. APHC will provide the hotel in advance with a list of players and referees who wish to use the bathroom. The player or referee can collect the card from reception (staffed 24/7), use the facilities, and return the card afterwards. Thanks to the list, there is double control over who uses the room and where the key is.
BOOKINGS
All bookings are handled through us. Any booking requests from players or referees that reach the hotel directly (e.g. by phone) will be redirected to us or put in contact with us. We bundle all bookings into one clear Excel spreadsheet, including information about the number of wheelchairs at breakfast and in the room, and whether (sports) wheelchairs will be charged in the room or in the basement.
WHEELCHAIR CHARGING – ROOM OR BASEMENT
The hotel has provided us with a space in the basement/storage area where players can charge their (sports) wheelchairs if there is insufficient space in their room.
VAN DER VALK ACCESSIBLE TOILET
There is also an accessible toilet in the hotel lobby, but it is not very large. Of course, everyone can use this facility.
ARRIVAL DAY
The APHC team tries to be present as a team at the hotel on the Friday of the event weekend at 15:00 to welcome the first guests. This helps strengthen the sense of connection between APHC and the players and referees. It also allows guests to ask last questions, and we can assist with unloading for those who need help. This usually lasts until 17:15, after which we leave for the sports hall for setup. The start up starts at 18:00.
