ACCESSIBILITY

At Antwerp Powerchair Hockey Collective VZW (APHC), accessibility is an important part of what we do.

As an organisation built around powerchair hockey, we believe that everyone should be able to participate, access information, and feel welcome — whether you are a player, coach, referee, volunteer, supporter, or visitor.

We continuously work to make both our website and our events as accessible and inclusive as possible.

Website Accessibility

We aim to make the APHC website accessible and easy to use for as many people as possible.

We work to provide:

  • Clear and structured information
  • Readable typography and sufficient contrast
  • Descriptive headings and links
  • Alternative text for relevant images
  • Keyboard-accessible navigation where possible
  • Accessible forms and registration information
  • Information that is available in a clear and understandable format
  • Compatibility with commonly used browsers and assistive technologies where reasonably possible

We regularly review and improve our website, but we recognise that not every part of the website may be fully accessible at all times.

If you experience a problem or barrier while using our website, please let us know.

Event Accessibility

Accessibility is also an important consideration when organising APHC events.

We aim to provide environments that are as accessible as reasonably possible for powerchair users and people with different accessibility needs.

Depending on the event and venue, this may include:

  • Step-free access to relevant areas
  • Accessible entrances and routes
  • Accessible toilets
  • Accessible accommodation where available
  • Appropriate space for powerchairs
  • Accessible parking or drop-off arrangements where available
  • Accessible competition and spectator areas
  • Charging possibilities for powerchairs where available
  • Clear information about the accessibility of the venue and facilities

Because APHC events take place at different locations, accessibility can vary between venues. We therefore provide event-specific practical information whenever possible.

If you have specific accessibility requirements, we encourage you to contact us before registering or travelling so we can discuss what can be arranged.

Accommodation & Personal Support

For events involving accommodation, we aim to provide information about accessibility, room layouts, bathrooms, lifts, entrances, and other relevant facilities.

Accessibility requirements can differ significantly from person to person. If you require specific arrangements, please communicate these with APHC as early as possible.

We will do our best to find a suitable solution, but we cannot guarantee that every requested facility or adaptation will be available at every venue.

Accessible Communication

We want our information to be understandable and accessible to people with different communication needs.

We aim to:

  • Use clear and straightforward language
  • Structure longer information into clear sections
  • Provide important practical information in advance
  • Give participants opportunities to ask questions
  • Make event instructions and schedules available in an accessible format
  • Provide alternative ways to contact us where reasonably possible

If you need information in a different format or have a communication requirement, please contact us.

Everyone’s Needs Are Different

Accessibility is not one-size-fits-all.

A person may need assistance with mobility, communication, transportation, accommodation, sensory needs, information, or another aspect of participation. Please don’t hesitate to tell us what you need.

We cannot promise that every request can be accommodated, but we will always try to understand the requirement and look for a practical solution.

Report an Accessibility Barrier

If you encounter an accessibility problem on our website or at one of our events, we would appreciate hearing from you.

Please contact: info@aphcollective.be

When possible, please tell us:

  • What accessibility barrier you experienced
  • Where you encountered it
  • When it happened
  • What you expected to be able to do
  • Any suggestion that could help us improve

You can also contact us if you need accessibility information before attending an APHC event.

Your feedback helps us identify problems and improve future events.

Continuous Improvement

Accessibility is an ongoing process.

We know that there will always be things we can improve, and we welcome feedback from the people who use our website and participate in our activities.

APHC will continue to review its digital platforms, event locations, communication, and practical organisation with accessibility and inclusion in mind.

Our goal is simple:

To make powerchairhockey more accessible, on and off the field.
