Antwerp Powerchair Hockey Collective VZW | MEET THE COACH: Bob Götz 🇳🇱 APHC Camp 2027

MEET THE COACH: Bob Götz 🇳🇱 APHC Camp 2027

Bob Götz is a familiar face in the international powerchair hockey community and brings experience from both sides of the court: as a player and as a coach. We’re welcoming him back for a second time at our camp.

He is currently head coach of the Belgian national team and De Pont E1 Rotterdam, combining his own experience as a high-level player with his work developing and guiding other players. In 2026, Bob was part of the Belgian national team campaign that achieved a 5th-place finish at the World Championship.

Bob likes to understand why things happen on the court. His coaching combines structure, positivity and clear expectations, with a strong focus on game analysis, communication and making better decisions under pressure. He enjoys working with players at different stages of their development and encourages them to look beyond the obvious.

Outside hockey, Bob is a creative person andhis curiosity and willingness to keep learning are also reflected in the way he approaches coaching.

🧠 Bob in his own words

QUESTION ONE

‘How would you describe your coaching style in three words?’

Strict. Fun. Positive.

For Bob, these three qualities can exist together. He wants players to know what is expected of them and to be challenged, but believes that development works best when there is also enjoyment and a positive atmosphere.

QUESTION TWO

‘What is your strongest coaching quality?’

Game analysis and reading the game.

Bob enjoys looking at what is happening on the court and, importantly, understanding why it is happening. Rather than simply giving players an instruction, he wants them to develop their own hockey understanding and become better at recognising situations for themselves.
QUESTION THREE

‘What should players leave camp with?’

For me, the camp should feel like a worthwhile investment of the players’ time and energy. I want players to leave feeling that they have genuinely learned something, developed as players and made the experience worthwhile.

💡 One thing Bob wants players to think about

One thing Bob notices at international level is that more training is not automatically better training. Making good use of the time you have matters. For him, effective development comes from training with purpose, understanding what you are trying to improve and making every session count.
Why should international players join APHC Camp?

Because the camp is about more than simply becoming a better hockey player. Bob sees it as an opportunity to develop both as a player and as a person, surrounded by an international group of athletes and coaches.

Meet Bob at camp

Expect a coach who will challenge your hockey brain, ask you to think differently and help you understand the game from another angle — all while keeping the atmosphere positive.
