Antwerp Powerchair Hockey Collective VZW | MEET THE COACH: Rasmus Yder 🇩🇰 APHC Camp 2027

MEET THE COACH: Rasmus Yder 🇩🇰 APHC Camp 2027

With more than two decades in powerchair sport and extensive international experience in powerchair hockey, Rasmus Yder brings for the second time in a row a wealth of knowledge to APHC Camp 2027. His journey has taken him through almost every side of the sport: international player, team manager, head coach, international official and contributor to international development. Rasmus has been part of the Danish national-team journey for many years. In 2022, he led Denmark to World Championship gold as head coach, before returning as assistant coach in 2024 and helping the team secure bronze on home soil. At our previous APHC Camp, he also led his team to gold.

For Rasmus, high performance is about more than winning or training harder. It is about understanding the game, making good decisions under pressure, responding to setbacks and continuously finding ways to improve.

🧠 Rasmus in his own words

QUESTION ONE

‘How would you describe your coaching style in three words?’

Demanding. Developing and Progress.

Rasmus believes that challenging players and supporting their development go hand in hand. He wants players to leave their comfort zone, but also to understand how that challenge contributes to their own progress.

QUESTION TWO

‘What is your strongest coaching quality?’

Building player confidence.

For Rasmus, confidence is not about simply telling players they are good enough. It is about creating an environment where players feel supported, challenged and able to grow.

<br>

QUESTION THREE

‘What should players leave camp with?’

One thing matters to me above all: players should feel seen, heard and met. Alongside the hockey development, I want players to feel that their individual needs and ambitions have been taken seriously.

💡 One thing Rasmus wants players to think about

At international level, setbacks and difficult moments are unavoidable. Rasmus sees emotional reactions to those moments as something players can learn to manage. Staying composed after something goes wrong can make a real difference to your focus, decision-making and ability to recover during a game.

Why should international players join APHC Camp?

For Rasmus, an international camp is about much more than training sessions. It is an opportunity to develop, exchange experiences, build connections and be part of an international powerchair hockey community.
